living in/on the water

So, I recently saw The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou. It was mostly a good film. Directed by Wes Anderson (an, apparently, well known director), the film is about an underwater sea-life documentary filmmaker named Steve Zissou. He has a bunch of people who help him (including a guy named Clouse who's acted by Willem Dafoe who, in my opinion, is an amazing actor) including his close friend Esteban. One day, though, while they're out filming underwater, Esteban gets eaten by a shark. Steve decides to go and kill the shark in order to avenge his friend. Oh, and he meets his son right before he leaves for his 'mission'.
The Life Aquatic is one of the most quirky films I've ever seen. Not only is the underwater sea-life odd (and beautiful, might I add) but the different personalities of the crew and their interactions with each other (especially Steve Zissou's interactions with a pregnant reporter) can be somewhat odd and quite often hilarious. One memorable addition to the film are the super-intelligent dolphins whom the crew try to interact with, but never succeed at doing so.
In general, I really liked it. Although, if you're looking for a film like this, I would say that Sideways is a better choice. It doesn't overreach and it's more believable. Not to say that this isn't a bad choice. :)
