it doesn't really rock

So the iPod nano and the Motorola ROKR (pronounced 'rocker') were released Thursday, September 10th.

The above picture is of the Motorola ROKR. The long-awaited iTunes phone. Your mind most likely thinks different from mine, but when I first saw it, I thought, that can't have been made by Apple. I was correct, but disappointed nonetheless. And I don't think Apple is expecting too much out of this. The iTunes name may carry it somewhere, but that somewhere is far from the iPod's success. What are the problems with this phone? Although I haven't used or seen one for myself, I can still think up of some very good reasons as to why this phone sucks. One, it's design is horrible. Well, that's an overstatement. The phone looks okay, but bears no resemblance to an iPod in any way. I mean, compare the two:

Although beauty is in the eye of the beholder, most eyes will be turning away from this phone and will instead be turning towards some more stylish phones (PEBL anyone?).

The other main problem is that the phone caps the number of songs it can hold at 100 songs. It's fairly obvious that Apple still wants to sell iPods and doesn't want a phone manufactured by another company to overtake them in their own market. Not to mention the phone doesn't have a clickwheel. I mean, that's one of the huge advantages of an iPod over any other mp3 player or mp3 playing cell-phone.

All in all, the the Motorola ROKR is pretty crappy. As for the iPod nano, You've probably heard plenty about that.
